The first line from George Varga’s recent Jazztimes review of the first record from Dave Holland’s Octet, Pathways:

“Dave Holland, much like bass giant, composer and bandleader Charles Mingus before him, thinks and listens as intently as he plays.”

The first line from George Varga’s April 2009 Jazztimes review of the first record from Jeff “Tain” Watts:

“Much like Charles Mingus before him, Jeff “Tain” Watts thinks and writes as hard as he plays.”

Really? No editors at Jazztimes?
